INFANT & TODDLER PROGRAM
6 Months - 1.5 Years (age varies)

The primary emphasis for infants is on health, safety, and facilitating optimal development of each child. Every interaction is an opportunity for the infant to learn and develop. Our nurturing caregivers focus on creating bonds with the children by holding them frequently and understanding the sleeping and feeding rhythms. The classroom is also designed in a way where infants can explore safely while strengthening their bodies and practicing their motor skills. As the infant matures so will the structure of activities.

PEACE EDUCATION

Picture
It is important for the development of children’s self-esteem to know their place in a community, to understand what they can offer their community, and to engage in responsibility to others. To this end children’s work at Tukata promotes multicultural respect, human rights and conflict resolution as ways to integrate peace within their lives, families, classroom and broader communities.
* Note - As we respect many beliefs, we do not teach or promote ANY religious or political ideals.

FRENCH LANGUAGE IMMERSION

Picture
At our Thongkang house, parents have the option for their children to learn French. A native French speaker works with the children in the mornings in lessons and immersion activities such as gardening, art, stories and plays all in French language. Emphasis is also given to basic academics in preparation for entering the French school system.

PRESCHOOL CURRICULUM
2 Years - 5 Years

We believe that children have enormous potential and curiosity!  We also believe that children need an environment that can act as a “third teacher” in their learning experience. We believe that each child is full of individual ideas and creativity, and that they need a beautiful environment to learn as individuals. We don’t see children as a blank slate and our job is to make them into who they “should” be. We already see them as unique and gifted, and believe our job is to encourage and cultivate a safe a loving environment for them to grow into unique individuals.  Of course we still believe in rules and boundaries as a means of safety and social responsibility, however, we do not want confine children to a standardized form of learning. We hope to give them a lifelong passion for learning, exploration and discovery!

ECO-EDUCATION

Picture
We are members of Natural Start Alliance and the Biodynamic Association.

We implement many “Green” practices in our daily routines to minimize our negative impact on the environment.

Some of these practices include, when possible: using recycled materials, buying locally grown foods, reducing the use of natural resources and educating our staff and your children about environmentally conscious practices. Feel free to save your empty water bottles, and other beautiful leftovers for us!
